And I do mean just the basics. It takes a lot of work and an impeccable diet, (see Trophology), to keep a healthy digestive system in this day and age. If you have those pesky reminders, gas, belching and bloating then read on and adopt some of these things for your digestive system.

Probiotics. Healthy bacteria for the body should include Lactobacillus Acidophilus and Bifida bacterium. These bacterial colonies should be used on a daily basis. Dosage is at least 3 to 5 billion viable colonies, at time of manufacturing, keep both refrigerated. Take on empty stomach, wait 20 to 30 minutes before eating.

Lactobacillus Acidophilus works in the Small Intestine. Some probiotics are time released to open in the small intestines instead of the stomach. Bifida works in Large Intestine where it lowers PH and improves the immune system.

Children under two years of age should only use Bifida bacterium. You will find it In some cultured products like Cottage cheese, kefir, yogurt, miso, Kumbucha, sauerkraut, most reliable in capsule form.

Digestive Enzymes: Assists in the breakdown of foods like, fats, lipids, carbohydrates, cellulose and protein.

The plant-based enzymes most commonly used are:

  • Amylase, to break down starch
  • Protease. To digest protein
  • Lactase, dairy
  • Lipase, fats and denatured oils
  • Acid stable Protease, protein to amino acids
  • Maltase digests disaccharides to monosaccharides

Usually you will find these all together in one capsule.

Fibers: Including soluble and non-soluble fiber.  Fruits and vegetables both contain fiber. Pectin, flax seed, psyllium husk, the best are Psyllium and Flax seed and pectin. For best health, consume 35 to 45 grams of fiber daily. This includes fiber in foods and supplementation. Use lots of water with all that supplemental fiber.

Essential Oils; The best I have found is Nordic Naturals Cod Liver Oil or Carlson’s Fish Oils. Liquids are best 1 Tablespoon daily.

  • Both are Pharmaceutical Grade, Molecularly Distilled Omega 3 Fish oils.
  • EPA listed first on label (650 mg) DHA listed second (450mg)
  • Dosage 1000 mg two to three times daily.
  • Other oils to add to the body are
  • 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Almond Oil
  • Walnut oil
  • Sesame oil
  • Evening Primrose oil
  • Borage oil
  • CLA, great oil for weight loss
  • Hemp seed oil
  • Flax seed oil
  • Grape seed oil (for cooking)

Green Food (minerals), like blue green algae are the first foods on the food chain. These greens are full of minerals and oxygen.

My favorites are:

  • Blue green algae (New Earth)
  • Spiralina
  • Chlorea
  • Barley Grass juice
  • Kale and Collard greens, highest content of minerals

Dosage is 3 grams to 6 grams daily of supplements

If you’re STRESSED (and who isn’t just a little or a lot these days), then add a B-Complex, 50mg 2x daily, or extra B12/B6/foliate if you’re anemic.

Saccarides: Eight Essential

Mannose, glucose, galactose, fucose, xylose, N-acetylglucosime, N-acetylgalactosamine and N-acetylneuraminic acid are necessary for cell communication and optimal immune function. Our bodies can move sugars back and forth but cannot create them.

Foods that contain Saccharides are: all the different types of mushrooms, like porcini, cordacepts, reshi, ling zhi, lion’s mane.  Fruits and veggies are a good sources, a great Book: Sugars that heal by Emil Mondao, MD. Glyconutrients are the cutting edge of treatments for Heart disease and Cancers.

A great source for Acidophilus, Digestive enzymes and Algae’s is a company called New Earth at 1-800-800-1300 or www.NewEarth.com.  If you would like to purchase from this company an ID# you can use to set up a retail or preferred customer account # 1068375. Excellent products.

Remember these are just the basics. If you have serious problems like Diabetes, Cancer, Auto Immune problems and the list goes on and on and on but the most important thing to know is if the body created the imbalance or dis-ease it has the ability to correct it.

You must have faith and hope and courage and support but you are so much more powerful that you know. Take my word for it. You can do great things and more. So you have already begun by checking out this blog and if you need help, give me a call.

Some trivial info:

  • Don’t drink with your meals. Chew your food well.
  • Yellow is the color of digestion, that’s why most kitchens were painted yellow.
  • Red stimulated digestion, that’s why most Chinese restaurants have red interiors.
  • Laughter is great for digestion
  • And it’s always better to eat with someone if you can.

Enjoy!
